Gandhinagar:Gandhinagar: JP Nadda, Govindbhai Dholakia, Mayank Nayak, Jashvantsinh Parmar will go to Rajya Sabha on ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket. Their names were announced as party candidates today.

JP Nadda is party’s national president. He hails from Himachal Pradesh and has spent significant time of life in Bihar also. Govindbhai Dholakia is a senior and one of the most well-known and respected diamond traders from Surat with origin in Saurashtra. He is founder chairman of Shree Ramkrishna Exports Pvt.Ltd. (SRK group) and associated with a number of philanthropic activities. Mayanak Yanak is president of the Other Backward Class(OBC) morcha of Gujarat BJP. He is Trustee of Shamlaji Vishnu mandir. He is former incharge of Patan district BJP. Jashvantsinh Parmar, a Doctor and petrol pump owner from Godhra who had contested as rebel against BJP candidate in the year 2017 assembly polls unsuccessfully. Parmar also belongs to OBC.

The party has not renewed Rajya Sabha terms of union ministers Parshottam Rupala and Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya. However they will stay as ministers.Their Rajya Sabha term will end in April this year and there shall be general elections of Lok Sabha in April/May.

The party declared candidates a day before the last date of filing nominations. The candidates however were conveyed about their candidature in advance and the formalities of filing nomination forms were started. BJP is all set to win all four seats unopposed as none of the two main opposition parties is going to field its candidate.

The election for four Rajya Sabha seats in Gujarat is necessitated as six-year terms of four Rajya Sabha members – Parshottam Rupala, Mansukh Mandaviya, Naran Rathwa and Amiben Yagnik are expiring in April this year.

With election of four new Rajya Sabha members, the names of 11 Rajya Sabha members from Gujarat shall be Narhari Amin, Ramilaben Bara, S Jaishankar, Babubhai Desai, Shaktisinh Gohil, Kesridevsinhji Zala, Rambhai Mokariya,JP Nadda, Govindbhai Dholakia, Mayank Nayak, Jashvantsinh Parmar. Of them only one Shaktisinh Gohil hails from the Congress party. Congress has no Lok Sabha member from Gujarat at present. DeshGujarat
