Congress party announces 7 candidates in Gujarat for Lok Sabha polls

Gandhinagar: Indian National Congress has declared 7 of a total 26 candidates in Gujarat for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Congress is going to 24 seats in Gujarat, as it has allocated Bharuch and Bhavnagar Lok Sabha seats to I.N.D.I alliance party Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidates.
-Niteshbhai Lalan (Kutch seat which is reserved for Schedule Caste candidates), East Kutch district Youth Congress president
-Geniben Thakor (Banaskantha) MLA from Vav
-Rohan Gupta (Ahmedabad East), National Spokesperson of Congress party
-Bharat Makwana (Ahmedabad West), former MLA of Sojitra (won in 1998)
-Lalit Vasoya (Porbandar) former MLA from Dhoraji, contested this seat in 2019 also, he is Rajkot district Congress chief
-Siddharth Chaudhary (Bardoli seat which is reserved for Schedule Tribe candidates), son of Congress leader Amarsinh Chaudhary. He is the leader of the opposition in Tapi district panchayat and the SUMUL dairy director
-Anant Patel (Valsad seat which is reserved for Schedule Tribe candidates), sitting MLA from Vansda Chikhli seat of South Gujarat
The party nationally today declared the second list of its candidates. None from Gujarat was mentioned in the first list. Gujarat has a total 26 Lok Sabha seats. For last two general elections of Lok Sabha in 2014 and 2019, Congress has failed to win even a single seat. The party has today declared its 7 candidates for Gujarat. Earlier ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had declared 15 of its 26 candidates in the first list.
Congress has given the Daman & Diu union territory ticket to local unit president Ketan Patel. Daman & Diu are located south of Gujarat.
General elections of Lok Sabha are likely to be declared later this week. The polls are likely to take place in April-May this year. DeshGujarat
