Navy’s Make In India 3rd 25T Bollard Pull Tug Bajrang launched in Bharuch

Bharuch: 3rd 25T Bollard Pull Tug Bajrang was launched by Commodore V Pravin, AWPS (Additional Warship Production Superintendent) Mumbai on 14 March 2024 at M/s Shoft Shipyard Pvt Ltd, Bharuch Gujarat. The Tug is a proud flag bearer of Make in India initiative of GoI.
Contract for construction and delivery of three 25T BP Tugs was concluded with M/s Shoft Shipyard Pvt Ltd, an MSME, in consonance with Aatma nirbhar Bharat initiative of GoI. These Tugs are being built under the classification rules of Indian Register of Shipping IRS.
The availability of Tugs will provide impetus to Operational commitments of Indian Navy by facilitating assistance to Naval ships and Submarines during berthing and un-berthing, turning and manoeuvring in confined waters. Tugs will also provide afloat fire fighting assistance to ships alongside/ at anchorage and will also have capability to conduct limited SAR.
