Constable crashes car into family of 4; granted bail without medical test

Ahmedabad: In another incident of excessive speeding on the road, a police constable allegedly collided with a family’s scooter from behind near GB Shah College in Vasna on Thursday night. The victims, identified as Ronak Shah, his wife Rushita, and their two sons, Prat and Krut, were rushed to SVP Hospital with serious injuries. The traffic police apprehended the accused cop on Friday morning, but he was later released on bail.
According to the FIR filed with M division traffic police by Ronak’s brother Dhaval Shah, Ronak sustained injuries to his arms, legs, and eyes, while Rushita suffered injuries to her right leg and left eye. Krut suffered severe injuries to his face and legs, and Prat sustained injuries to his arms and legs.
Locals who were at the accident scene allege that the cop was in an inebriated condition and that he fled the scene while taking along the plate inscribed with the word “Police”
The accused constable, identified as Vijay Aniyaria, a resident of H Block of Ellisbridge Policeline, was arrested early Friday morning. Vijay is posted at Sola Police Station. The accused cop has already been released on bail even though tests to determine if he was driving under the influence of alcohol have not yet been conducted. The car that caused the accident had police insignia plates on both the front and back sides. Additionally, items such as condom packets, a plastic cup, and an identification card were recovered from the scene of the incident.
Police have filed a complaint against him under the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act, including charges of rash driving, causing damage, endangering human life, and causing grievous hurt to any person due to rash or negligent driving. DeshGujarat
