Vadodara MP Ranjan Bhatt says she’s unwilling to contest Lok Sabha election 2024
March 23, 2024
Vadodara: Vadodara Lok Sabha MP Ranjan Bhatt today tweeted she doesn’t wish to contest the Lok Sabha election 2024 for personal reasons. She tweeted: I, Ranjanben Dhananjay Bhatt, am unwilling to contest the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 due to my personal reasons. She also posted the same message on her Facebook account.
Replying to the media queries later, Ranjanbeh said – ‘It’s neither my party’s instruction nor I have met with someone. I was sitting in front of Avadhut for puja and I thought it was enough of the last ten days, the defamation and all, as a woman there was a limit, so I decided to withdraw. I took this decision on my own. I didn’t ask or tell to anyone. Bharatbhai Shah had come to my place and I told my wish only to him. Party high command fielded me for the third time, but I would convey to them that the opportunity to serve the people should be given to someone else.’
‘Bharatbhai tried to convince me and asked to talk with the party, but I decided not to go ahead. BJP has thousands of cadres and I have been an MP for ten years. Party cadres work selflessly without getting any post for years, I have been an MP for ten years, party has given that responsibility to me. I will continue to work for the Prime Minister’s dream of achieving Viksit Bharat.’
Ranjanben said she was fed up with allegations and barbs defaming her. She said ‘allegations were made that his son has a mall. He does not even have a small shop in Australia.’
The party had announced Ranjan Bhatt’s name as candidate in the second list which was out on 14th March. Soon after that party’s Women’s wing national president and former Mayor Dr. Jyotiben Pandya was suspended before she could go to the media to oppose the party’s decision to give a ticket to Ranjanben. Dr. Pandya made allegations of corruption against Bhatt. Then some banners were put up against Ranjanben in the city late in the night. When police scanned through CCTV footage, a few Congress office bearers and workers were found responsible for such banners. The city unit Congress chief was also questioned in this case. In the meantime, the Savli assembly seat MLA offered his resignation. Savli is part of the Vadodara Lok Sabha constituency. However, Savli MLA’s resignation was unrelated to Ranjanben Bhatt’s candidature. In other developments, media stories were in circulation that the party may rethink its decision on the Vadodara candidate. However, the city BJP chief refuted such possibilities and maintained that Ranjanben’s candidature was final.
Ranjanben was active in the Lok Sabha election campaign even last evening. Today morning she suddenly tweeted her decision to not contest. DeshGujarat
