Heavy rush of passengers at Udhna railway station; Patil speaks to Railway Minister

Surat: Due to an extraordinarily heavy rush of passengers at Udhna railway station in Surat, some people fainted for whom ambulances were arranged. The incident happened after chaos at the railway platform due to the heavy rush of passengers who were out to travel to their native places in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

According to Navsari Lok Sabha member CR Patil, the heavy rush was due to the arrival of passengers of several trains at the same time. Patil said there was ‘dhakka-mukki’, and some people had to be shifted to medical care in ambulances due to heat. Patil said he spoke to the union Railway Minister to request operations of more trains to clear the heavy rush.

Every year, an extraordinarily heavy rush can be witnessed at the railway station here around Holi, Diwali, and summer vacation. Surat has a huge population of people from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, and other states. They mostly work as laborers in various industries here. While Railways operate extra trains to clear the rush, it’s just too huge to address at times. DeshGujarat
