No holiday on Ram Navami; Anand Niketan school gets notice
April 18, 2024
Ahmedabad: The district education officer of Ahmedabad city has issued a show-cause notice to Anand Niketan School in Shilaj for conducting classes on Ram Navami.
Despite Ram Navami being a recognized public holiday, Anand Niketan School remained open on Wednesday, and students were asked to attend. Concerned parents reported the matter to the DEO’s office, which then issued a show-cause notice to the private school.
Earlier this month, in response to complaints about schools neglecting public holidays for Cheti Chand and Eid, the DEO had cautioned schools about facing severe consequences if found operating on such holidays.
Rohit Chaudhary, DEO of Ahmedabad City, stated that upon learning that Anandniketan School did not observe a holiday on Ram Navami, his office contacted school management and requested an explanation. Initially, the management claimed that the school remained open for a religious event. However, the DEO’s office has demanded a written justification, and failure to provide one will result in punitive action. DeshGujarat
