NCB, Gujarat ATS and ICG nab 14 Pakistanis with 86 kg drugs off Gujarat coast

Porbandar: Porbandar: Narcotics Control Bureau(NCB), Gujarat Police’s Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) and Indian Coast Guard (ICG) in a joint operation apprehended 14 Pakistani nationals with 86 kg foreign drugs in their possession, from high sea, off Gujarat coast. The seized narcotics, namely Heroin & Methamphetamine, weigh around 86 kgs (approx), with a market value of approximately Rs. 602 Crores.

The ICG ship Rajratan, equipped with ATS and NCB officials, positively identified the suspect boat despite attempts to evade detection. The swift response of the Rajratan, supported by a fleet of ships and aircraft on concurrent missions, left no room for escape for the drug-laden vessel. The ship’s specialist team embarked on the suspect boat and, after thorough checks, confirmed the presence of a sizeable amount of narcotics. The crew and the vessel are currently being escorted to Porbandar for further investigation and legal proceedings.

The Minister of State for Home Affairs in the Gujarat Government, Harsh Sanghavi, reacting to the operation, said, “Gujarat ATS, NCB, Indian Coast Guard Arrest 14 Pakistani Nationals, Seize 86 KG Drugs Worth Rs 602 Crore In a remarkable joint operation conducted by ATS Gujarat, the Indian Coast Guard, and NCB (Ops) Delhi, a Pakistani boat and 14 individuals were intercepted in the sea near Porbandar, resulting in the successful seizure of 86 kg of heroin. The collaboration between the ICG and ATS, which has led to eleven successful law enforcement operations in the last three years, reaffirms the synergy for national objectives. It is also noteworthy that this was the second major operation by the NCB and Gujarat ATS in just 24 hours. Earlier, the agencies dismantled three mephedrone labs located at Piplaj on the outskirts of Gandhinagar, in Amreli, and at Lotiwara in Sirohi district of Rajasthan. Seven individuals were arrested, the kingpin was identified, and 149 kg of Mephedrone valued approximately Rs. 300 Cr was seized. DeshGujarat
