Godhra: Fire department held checking at D Mart super store here and found that the exit gate for emergency evacuation was locked from inside by the store management. The Fire department intervened and ordered the management to open the shutter and the locks of emergency door for fast evacuation in case of fire. The team checked the width of the door, whether it is as per the rules and also checked the other aspects of fire safety system here. Fire department team was accompanied by Mamlatdar staff and Police. The store witnesses thousands of footfalls daily and the largest such store in Godhra. The district administrations and civic bodies across Gujarat are holding checking drive over fire safety norms in the wake of Rajkot TRP game zone fire tragedy in which over 27 persons are dead.
