Traffic junctions in Surat now equipped with Public Address System
June 01, 2024
Surat: Surat Police have attached public address systems to CCTV cameras at 50 traffic junctions on an experimental basis. The points to install the system were selected through a survey.
Bhagal Char Rasta, Breadliner Circle, and the road outside the Police Commissioner’s Office are some locations where this system is already installed. The city police eventually intend to expand this system to 200 traffic points.
Police have executed the initial rollout at a cost of Rs. 25 lakh for the upgrade of the system. With this system in place, policemen are now able to issue instructions to commuters at traffic junctions from the control room itself. Violators of traffic rules are warned, instructed, and guided through this system. The system will also be useful at events like Ganesh Visarjan, Tajiya Julus, Rath Yatra, and other occasions.
