Will leave public life if found involved: Bhanuben Babariya to media a week after Rajkot Fire
June 01, 2024
Rajkot: The only female cabinet minister of Gujarat and Rajkot MLA, Bhanuben Babariya, was moved to tears while addressing the media about the TRP Gamezone fire incident today, which claimed the lives of 27 people. However, her public statement comes a week after the tragedy occurred on May 25th.
Addressing the media, Babariya stated, “I am also saddened and pained by the deaths of 27 people in this incident; I am also a mother.”
“When this incident occurred, I was not present here, but I arrived the next day,” she added. When questioned about what would happen if her name emerged in the investigation of the fire case, the Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment and Women & Child Development said, that if her name is associated with the incident, she would retire from public life.
Similarly, former Rajkot BJP MLA Govind Patel also spoke to the media, affirming that the SIT (Special Investigation Team) would not spare anyone involved in corruption related to the Rajkot TRP Game Zone disaster. Patel added that he would step down if found involved in the case.
Former Rajkot city BJP president, Kamlesh Mirani, expressed sorrow over the Rajkot accident, noting that three individuals from his area had lost their lives. He mentioned sending his friend and corporator, Pushkar Patel, to the scene as he was the Punjab Incharge. Mirani affirmed that an investigation led by the Gujarat government and the SIT was underway, and action would be taken against whoever is responsible. He also stated that he would leave public life if his name comes up in the case.
During the tenure of former standing committee chairman, Pushkar Patel, the TRP Game Zone expanded. When asked about this, he said that the TRP Game Zone issue did not cross his mind during his tenure. He stated that action should be taken against him if his involvement is found out, and he would leave public life.
It is noteworthy that the statements of these leaders come a week after the massive tragedy. Additionally, these leaders remained silent on the corruption of Mansukh Sagathia, a town planning officer in the Rajkot Municipal Corporation, which allegedly involved millions of rupees. It seems unlikely that these leaders were unaware of Sagathia’s actions, given their positions of power during the establishment of the TRP Game Zone. DeshGujarat
