Indigo to have codeshare with Japan Airlines for Ahmedabad – Tokyo journey
June 03, 2024
Ahmedabad: For passengers traveling between Gujarat and Japan, there’s a new development. Though there’s no official announcement yet, it is understood that Indigo Airlines will begin a codeshare agreement with Japan Airlines in October this year. Among the cities that are to be connected via 6E codeshare, one is Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The other cities under the codeshare agreement include Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Kochi, Coimbatore, Tiruchirapalli, Pune, Varanasi, and Goa. Japan Airlines presently operates on two routes in India that connect Tokyo to Delhi and Bengaluru.
While the Tokyo-Bengaluru flight operates from Narita Airport, the Tokyo-Delhi flight operates from Haneda Airport. Ahmedabad will be connected to Tokyo via Delhi through Indigo flights connecting Ahmedabad to Delhi and Bengaluru. Haneda Airport is closer to Tokyo and provides convenient access to Shinagawa Station. Narita Airport is further away but makes it easier to explore Narita City as well.
A codeshare flight is one in which one carrier markets and the other operates. They are a result of an agreement between two carriers to sell seats on each other’s flights with the aim of offering their customers a larger variety of destinations to choose from. The flight ticket would be booked on the flight number of the carrier that you have selected to travel with; however, it may be operated by another airline. DeshGujarat
