ACB Gujarat books staffer of Guru Gobind Singh Hospital in bribe case
June 07, 2024
Jamnagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat has booked a staff member of the Medical Board of Guru Gobind Singh General Hospital in Jamnagar in a bribery case involving Rs. 25,000.
The complainant in this case has been suffering from heart disease since 2014, prompting him to submit a transfer request to a location closer to his hometown. Consequently, the department sent the complainant to the Medical Board at Guru Gobind Singh General Hospital in Jamnagar for a heart disease examination. It was during this examination that the accused, Ashokbhai Dhirubhai Parmar, who works at the Medical Board of Guru Gobind Singh Government Hospital, demanded a bribe of Rs. 250,000 from the complainant in exchange for issuing an authentic certificate to his department following the medical examination.
After negotiations, the bribe amount was reduced to Rs. 45,000, out of which the complainant paid Rs. 20,000 to the accused. However, unwilling to pay the remaining Rs. 25,000, the complainant contacted the ACB, which subsequently set up a bribe trap. During the operation, the accused accepted the bribe money but, suspecting it was a trap, returned it to the complainant before disappearing from the crime scene. DeshGujarat
