Petrol pump running without fire NOC! 2 booked in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: A dangerous case of negligence has come to light in the Bodakdev area where a petrol pump near Pakwan Crossroads was found operating without a fire NOC (no objection certificate).  The police have booked the owner and manager of the pump in relation to this case. In the aftermath of the Rajkot TRP Game Zone fire incident, the administration is carrying out a drive to check establishments for fire NOCs and other necessary permissions.

Police constable Yuvrajsinh Aniruddh reported in his FIR that he, along with other officers, conducted a sweep on Saturday to inspect game zones, amusement parks, community halls, health clubs, party plots, banquets, and establishments dealing with inflammable materials.

During the inspection on Saturday afternoon, Aniruddh and his team questioned the petrol pump manager, Binu Pillai, about the fire NOC, who then referred them to the owner, Surendrasinh Gurudutt. It was found that while the petrol pump had all necessary permits from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to operate, its fire NOC had expired three years ago and had not been renewed. The last fire NOC was issued by the AMC fire department on August 25, 2020, and was valid until August 31, 2021.

The Bodakdev police have filed a complaint against the owner and manager for endangering life and personal safety of others, along with abetment, under relevant sections of the IPC and charges of the Gujarat Police Act. DeshGujarat
