GMC to build Rs 70 crore six-lane road along Dholakuva – Koba Metro route
June 20, 2024
Gandhinagar: Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC) is likely to construct an 80-metre-wide six-lane road from Dholakuva to Koba Circle along the Metro Rail route. The project is estimated to cost ₹70 crore and the tender process for this construction will begin soon.
The metro rail route from Motera Narendra Modi Stadium to Ch-2 is expected to start operations next month. The route extends from Koba Circle to Sabarmati River Bank, covering new and old Koba, Raisan, Randesan, and Dholakuva. The new road will run parallel to this metro route.
GMC plans to develop model roads in Kudasan, Sargasan, and Raisan for the city’s beautification. Currently, the main road from Ahmedabad to Gandhinagar, via Koba to Ch-0 handles most traffic. The new road on the Metro Rail route will provide an alternative.
The existing road varies in width, from 24 metres to 40 metres. The new 80-metre-wide road will standardise the width along the entire route. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) is ready, and GMC will soon release the tender. After the Standing Committee’s approval, the project work will commence with a work order.
Meanwhile, Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) yesterday released a tender for mechanised cleaning and housekeeping of eight Phase-2 Metro stations: GNLU, PDPU, GIFT City, Raisan, Randesan, Dholakuva Circle, Infocity, and Sector-1. The metro rail testing for the Motera-Gandhinagar route is likely to be completed by the end of June, with the launch anticipated by the end of July. DeshGujarat
