Gondal Gundala railway crossing to close for flyover construction
June 20, 2024
Gondal: Starting July 1, the Gundala railway crossing in Gondal will be closed for an indefinite period for the construction of a new railway flyover bridge costing Rs 27 crore. To manage traffic, vehicles will be diverted from the Sandhiya bridge on Jetpur Road to the Unwada road underbridge.
Residents are concerned about accessibility during the monsoon, as alternative routes via Ashapura and Umwada underpasses are prone to flooding. This closure is expected to impact daily commuters, especially school vans, ambulances, and emergency vehicles.
Gondal MLA Geetaba Jadeja has urged the Gujarat government to reconsider the decision and ensure minimal disruption to city traffic during the construction period. She emphasized the importance of managing traffic congestion to reduce inconvenience for commuters. DeshGujarat
