NFSU holds 2-day workshop on “Crime Scene Management and Forensic Journalism”

Gandhinagar: National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) in the state capital is organizing a 2-day workshop on “Crime Scene Management and Forensic Journalism” on 20 and 21 June 2024. The Inauguration Ceremony of the workshop took place on today. Students of PG Diploma in Forensic Journalism and MA Mass Communication and Forensic Journalism are participating from all over India.
During the Inauguration Ceremony, Mr. Justice Kaushal J. Thaker, Chairperson, Gujarat State Human Rights Commission; Ajay Umat, Group Editor, Ahmedabad Mirror and Navgujarat Samay; Harit Mehta, Resident Editor, The Times of India; Prof. (Dr.) S.O. Junare, Campus Director, NFSU-Gandhinagar and Prof. (Dr.) Satish Kumar, Dean-SFS, NFSU were present on the dais.
Padma Shri Dr. J.M. Vyas, Vice-Chancellor of National Forensic Sciences University said that National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) is the first University which launched such unique course on Forensic Journalism. This course aims to bridge the gap between forensic science and journalism by providing an integrated approach to crime scene investigation and media reporting. Forensic Journalism is an important pillar of Criminal Justice Delivery System in the current scenario.
Ajay Umat, Group Editor, Ahmedabad Mirror and Navgujarat Samay said that nowadays in-depth knowledge of Forensic Science is crucial in the profession of Journalism which can play important role in helping the public at large as well as the Law Enforcement Agencies during the crisis. The Forensic Journalism in the need of the hour for the awareness of the society.
Prof. (Dr.) S.O. Junare, Campus Director, NFSU-Gandhinagar delivered the welcome address and Prof. (Dr.) Satish Kumar, Dean-SFS, NFSU expressed the vote of thanks. During the workshop, students imparted practical knowledge about Crime Scene Management with the mock crime scene, 3D Mapping Crime Scene Photography and Videography.
