AMC leader of opposition alleges flawed execution of KhariCut redevelopment project by contractors

Ahmedabad: The leader of the opposition in Amdavad Municipal Corporation(AMC) has made allegations that the contractor has not installed the precast and cast-in-situ boxes in the Kharicut Canal redevelopment project  and has worked against the prescribed design in the tender.

The Kharicut Canal Project is being developed by the AMC for Rs. 1250 crore. The leader of the opposition Shehzad Khan Pathan criticized AMC for overseeing “the flawed execution” of the project and highlighted discrepancies in the tender process.  He claimed “a scam worth Rs. 240 crores”.

He further alleged – the contractor, RKC Infrabelt Pvt Ltd, failed to lay the precast and cast-in-situ boxes in the initial 2.5 km stretch from Naroda Smashan Gruh to Navyug School, as mandated in the tender. Despite the tender’s rules to install these boxes, contractor RKC Infrabelt Pvt Ltd chose to build walls instead of laying the required boxes in the first phase.

He also alleged that as RKC Infrabelt didn’t place precast and cast-in-situ boxes, subsequent contractors, including Rail Vikas Nigam Limited and Kalathia Engineering and Construction Pvt Ltd, also refrained from installing the necessary boxes and just made walls.

Consultants like SCP Company, handling project management, and a multimedia consultant for design, are being scrutinized, he claimed and added that their job was to monitor and ensure the project followed tender specifications, leading to questions about their attention on this crucial project.
