Vadodara: Fire brigade officials sealed an HDFC bank branch located in the Midway Height building near Kala Ghoda Circle, Vadodara. The bank had resumed operations on Tuesday using a generator for electricity. This action comes just two days after the fire brigade team cut off the electricity supply due to a lack of proper fire safety measures.
The fire brigade team inspected the Midway Height building on Sunday. During the inspection, they found that the building did not comply with fire safety regulations. As a result, the fire department disconnected the building’s electricity supply on the same day. Despite this, the HDFC bank branch located within the building resumed operations on Tuesday by utilizing a generator for electricity.
Upon receiving information about the bank’s operation, a fire brigade team led by Fire Officer Amit Chaudhary rushed to the location. They ordered the bank to cease operations. They confirmed that the fire safety system remained non-functional upon verification with the bank manager.
This act constituted a violation of the Gujarat Fire Prevention and Life Safety Measures Act. Consequently, the fire brigade team evacuated the bank’s staff and customers and sealed the branch. Additionally, they seized the battery wires connected to the generator set used for generating electricity.
In a separate incident, the fire brigade team similarly sealed the Rama Krishna Complex located in Subhanpura Ward No. 10 due to the absence of a fire safety system. This complex houses five different coaching classes with approximately 800 students. DeshGujarat
