Surat Outer Ring Road Phase-2 construction likely to commence after Diwali this year

Surat: Surat will soon witness the commencement of Phase-2 construction of the Outer Ring Road. This phase aims to add 10.45 km to the existing road with an estimated cost of Rs 473.37 crore. The tender process for the project’s second phase will soon be completed, with construction expected to commence after Diwali or in January 2025, it is learnt.

Phase-1 Progress and Details

The estimated cost for this phase is Rs 486.44 crore. This phase covers an area of 17.32 km and is divided into packages. Package-1 includes ongoing infrastructure construction such as the Kosad-Bharthana railway overbridge, an overbridge from Valak village to Surat Kamrej road, a vehicle underpass, and a Y junction near Gadhpur road. Completion of this work will complete the entire work of phase-1.

Phase-2 Tender Process and Project Details

The tender process for Phase-2, covering 10.45 km, is nearing completion. The estimated cost of this phase is Rs 473.37 crore. This phase will include the construction of railway overbridge, flyover bridge, underpass, etc. Phase-2 of the outer ring road will connect Niyol, Dindoli, Kharvasa, Khambhasla, Saniya Kanade, Pardi Kanade, Bhanodra, and Sachin. Additionally, connectivity will extend to Surat-Kadodara Road, Dindoli-Palsana, Dindoli-Chalthan, Dindoli-Bhestan, and Sachin-Eklera roads.

Inclusion of State and National Highways

  • The outer ring road spans 66.77 km and includes state and national highways.
  • It incorporates a 21 km existing National Highway between Hazira and Sachin.
  • There is a 13 km State Highway between Ichhapor and Saroli within the project.
  • Construction of a 27 km ring road segment between Variyav and Sachin is currently ongoing.
  • Additionally, 5 km of municipal roads are part of the overall development.

Land Acquisition and Project Scope

Plans are underway to acquire necessary land for Phase-2 from villages including Niyol, Dindoli, Kharvasa, Khambhasla, Saniya Kanade, Pardi Kanade, Bhanodra, and Sachin. With an estimated total project cost exceeding Rs 960 crore, the Surat Outer Ring Road project aims to enhance connectivity and reduce travel time across Surat and its surrounding regions. DeshGujarat
