AMC to replant 19 trees, no trees will be cut for Panjrapol Flyover Bridge
June 30, 2024
Ahmedabad: Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has decided to replant 19 trees, aged 30 to 35 years using a specialized tree transplanter machine. Moreover, the municipality will not cut any trees for the construction of the Panjarapol Flyover Bridge. Some locals had earlier claimed AMC would remove 91 trees at the project site.
The AMC team initially attempted to cut the trees but was stopped by the locals. The new design of the flyover eliminates the need to cut any trees.
Older trees are challenging to replant, and their survival rate is low. To address this, AMC consulted with the Indian Nursery Association. They decided to use a new technique for replanting the 19 trees, aged 30 to 35 years. This method involves lifting the tree, boring deep into the ground, and saving the roots during replantation.
The width of the proposed bridge remains 17 meters. Moreover, the 30-meter TP road will have 6.5 meters of space on both sides, including a 2 to 2.5 meter-wide footpath. DeshGujarat
