Red alert in 3 districts, Orange in many; IMD predicts very heavy rain in Gujarat for 24 hrs

Surat: Junagadh in the Saurashtra region received over 14 inches of rain in the last 24 hours until 8:30 am this morning. Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department has issued red and orange alerts in several districts of Gujarat due to predicted very heavy rains today.

Today, red alerts have been issued for Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, and Dadar Nagar Haveli due to the forecast of very heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, Kutch, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Dahod, Chhota Udaipur, Tapi, Dang, Bharuch, Bhavnagar, Amreli, Somnath, Diu, Junagadh, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Jamnagar, Morbi, Surendranagar, Patan, and Mehsana have been placed on orange alert.

The remaining districts including Porbandar, Rajkot, Botad, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Anand, Vadodara, Narmada, and Panchmahal have been marked with yellow for heavy rainfall.

On July 3rd, Banaskantha, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, and Dadar Nagar Haveli were placed on orange alert with warnings of very heavy rain, while the rest of Gujarat was marked yellow and expected to receive heavy rains.

On July 4th, Vadodara, Panchmahal, Chhota Udaipur, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, and Dadar Nagar Haveli were marked yellow with warnings of heavy rain, while the rest of Gujarat was likely to experience light to moderate rain.

On July 5th, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, and Dadar Nagar Haveli are marked yellow with a likelihood of heavy rains, while light to moderate rains are expected in the rest of Gujarat.”
