Surat: The Gujarat Food & Drugs Control Administration raided three factories in Surat for selling fake cosmetic products with brand labels on Amazon. The raid took place at Sarthana, Limbayat, and Pipodara, seizing counterfeit items worth Rs 30 lakh. Four people are facing proceedings for operating an unlicensed drug business.
The department’s raids followed a tip-off about Demelan Cream 50 gm being sold illegally on Amazon. Under the guidance of Dr. H. G. Koshiya, Commissioner of the department, officials raided R.J. Enterprises in The Platinum Plaza near Sarthana Jakatnaka, Ayushi Enterprises in Poojan Plaza near Limbayat Palika office, and Kahira Biotech in Pipodara.
Officials seized 14 samples, sent them for lab testing, and confiscated items worth Rs 30 lakh. Fake face-whitening drugs were sold online by these firms using brand names without permission. The seized items included large quantities of counterfeit cosmetics and allopathic medicines.
Officials found that R.J. Enterprises manufactured and sold cosmetics without licenses with counterfeit labels. Ayushi Enterprises copied and sold Demelan Cream online with fake licenses. Kahira Biotech produced and sold unlabeled cosmetics and allopathic medicines without permits. Further investigations are underway to determine the extent of their operations. DeshGujarat
