Zomato apologizes for delivering non-veg food instead of veg in Rajkot
July 03, 2024
Rajkot: The Health Department of the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) has taken a letter of apology and obligation from the Zomato food delivery app and the restaurant named Mumbai Zaika after non-veg food was delivered to a customer who had ordered vegetarian food.
Gaurav Singh had ordered Hyderabadi Veg Dum Biryani and Veg Kebabs last Saturday, but he received non-veg food containing meat and mutton. The food was ordered from Mumbai Zaika near the racecourse via the Zomato app. The customer made a video of the entire incident, which went viral.
The Zomato manager claimed that the error occurred because the restaurant sells both veg and non-veg food, but the restaurant owner did not support this claim. The restaurant owner stated that they only sell non-vegetarian food. It is learned that even though the restaurant only sells non-veg items, the app was showing veg items, and the company accepted this mistake in a chat with the restaurant owner.
Taking action, the civic body has served a notice to the food business operator and also summoned the business owner along with the Zomato manager. The letter of apology and obligation has been obtained from the food business operator for the mistake. DeshGujarat
