Ahmedabad: The Gujarat government has mandated registration for PG accommodations at police stations. On Tuesday, police filed cases against two PG operators for violation of this mandate during a check at Smit Sagar Society in Anandnagar area.

During the check, police found that seven women had been staying for three months without registration in Bungalow No. 18 of Smit Sagar Society. The property was managed by Jitendrabhai, who rented the upper floor owned by Jashiben for Rs. 20,000 per month. 

Three girls had been staying for six months in Bungalow No. 42. The property was managed by Pankaj Maheriya, who paid Rs. 10,000 per month to the owner, Motibhai. 

The opearators of both PGs failed to register the details of the residents with the police. As a result, cases were filed against Jashiben and Pankaj Maheriya.

The government requires PG operators to register residents’ details, including names, addresses, phone numbers, and identification. Despite this rule, many PG operators do not comply. The police now have the authority to take action against non-compliant PG operators to ensure safety and prevent conflicts in residential areas. DeshGujarat
