Gujarat likely to receive new Vande Bharat linking Surat and Rajkot: Report
July 06, 2024
Surat: Gujarat is likely to receive another Vande Bharat train soon before Diwali, according to a report from a local daily quoting railway sources. This will mark the state’s fifth Vande Bharat train and the first to operate from Surat. The train is likely to run six days a week between Rajkot and Udhna.
The report claims that the Senior CDO of Coaching Depot has initiated operational feasibility work for the Udhna-Rajkot Vande Bharat train. Once completed, the report will go to Western Railway headquarters. If successful, the state may receive a new Vande Bharat train before Diwali.
The report further informs that initially, the Railway Board planned to run the train between Surat and Rajkot, but changed its route due to the temporary closure of Surat station’s platform-4 during Multi Modal Transport Hub (MMTH) construction. The revised decision now directs the Vande Bharat service to operate between Udhna and Rajkot. DeshGujara
