Monkey menace in Vastral: Another monkey caged by authorities
July 12, 2024
Ahmedabad: The Forest Department and Zoo Department of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today captured another monkey from the Vastral area, following several incidents of monkey bites in multiple societies.
On Thursday, a young woman walking near the gate of Shreedhar Paradise society was attacked by a monkey, severely biting her leg. She had to be rushed to a hospital. Today, authorities captured one monkey from the area.
For the past two weeks, residents of five societies in the Vastral area — Shridhar Sparsh, Shridhar Heaven, Shridhar Paradise, Shridhar Star, and Suryam Elegance — have been living in fear due to monkey attacks. These monkeys have primarily targeted children and women, with CCTV footage of these incidents going viral on social media.
Earlier, two children were also attacked by monkeys while playing in the society’s common area. Another woman was attacked in a parking area of the society earlier this week. The state forest department had previously captured three monkeys. DeshGujarat
