Tapovan Circle – Koba Road road closure may continue for a few more months
July 12, 2024
Gandhinagar: The Tapovan – Koba road closure is expected to last for a few more months. Repairing and resurfacing of the road during the monsoon season is not feasible, which could delay the reopening of this road. However, Ahmedabad- Gandhinagar metro rail service is likely to commence next month.
Tapovan Circle to Koba road, spanning 4 km, has been shut due to the construction of a cable-stayed bridge over the Narmada Canal for the Metro rail service. Recently, the GMRC conducted load testing on this bridge. While there’s a chance the Metro service on this route could begin next month, the road closure from Tapovan to Koba may last for few more months.
Motorists have to take alternate routes due to ongoing construction of the metro station. With the Tapovan to Koba road closed, drivers now use the Zundal-Adalaj route to reach Gandhinagar. Heavy traffic builds near Rajasthan Circle due to ongoing bridge construction. Additionally, road widening from Jundal to Trimandir has caused congestion as the sides are dug out. DeshGujarat
