Five held for assaulting Bajrang Dal members in Mangrol, Surat

Surat: Local police apprehended five people on Friday for allegedly assaulting members of the Bajrang Dal in Mangrol taluka on Thursday night.

The incident occurred when Jaykumar Patel, Surat district co-convenor of Bajrang Dal, and his friend Mehul Dhamelia were returning from Rajpipla to Surat. En route they met with Bajrang Dal member Vikram Rabari in Jhankhvav village and then continued their journey. Shortly after, several youths from the village reportedly arrived on motorcycles and surrounded Patel’s car on Mandvi road. According to the FIR, these youths warned Patel against visiting the village to meet Rabari again, threatening consequences if he returned with others.

The police stated that the youths also threw stones at Patel’s car, from which he managed to escape. Patel subsequently lodged a complaint at Jankhvav police station against seven youths — Taufik Multani, Babbar Multani, Mammu Multani, Makbul Multani, Safin Multani, Taher Multani, and Hanif Multani.

In response, Taufik, Babbar, Mammu, Makbul, and Safin, all residents of Jankhvav village, were arrested. DeshGujarat
