Locals to hold meeting against toll tax rates on National Highway in Mahuva

Bhavnagar: A meeting will be held at Rohisa Chokdi on Tuesday, 23rd July to address the new toll tax rates on the National Highway near Longdi in Mahuva taluka. The meeting will involve vehicle owners, association presidents, and social leaders from Bhavnagar district.

The meeting will include discussions to demand toll-free access for GJ-4 series vehicles and verification through Aadhaar and vehicle licenses. Leaders have threatened to lock the offices of Bhavnagar and Amreli MPs if the issue is not resolved within seven days.

The toll tax for vehicles on this highway is set at Rs 140 for small vehicles and Rs 1395 for large vehicles. The local leaders claim the toll tax is a scheme to exploit vehicle owners. They assert that road conditions, including numerous broken spots and poor-quality bridges, make the toll unjustifiable.

Bhavnagar district currently has three toll booths within 150 kilometers: Adhelai, Kobdi, and Longdi. The local leaders claim that the new national highway from Bhavnagar to Mahuva has numerous damaged sections and poorly constructed bridges, raising safety concerns similar to the Morbi incident. The meeting will address these issues and discuss the strategy for eliminating toll tax. DeshGujarat
