Surat to have Rs 339 crore PM Ekta Mall at Rundh

Surat: The Central Government will build PM Ekta Mall in Rundh at a cost of Rs. 339 crore. The mall will feature an emporium to showcase and sell handicraft products from Gujarat, other states, and Union Territories. The Government of India will contribute Rs. 202 crore, while the Gujarat Government will provide Rs. 137.30 crore.

The PM Ekta Mall will include 134 emporiums or showrooms. These outlets will display Geographical Indication (GI) products from all states and Union Territories of India, as well as from 33 districts of Gujarat. Sectors such as handicrafts, agriculture, food processing, manufacturing, and more will be represented.

Facilities will include a craft gallery, seminar hall, amphitheater, food court, and children’s play area. A separate 11-storey building will provide accommodation for artisans.

The Public Accounts Committee, led by Chairman MLA Jitubhai Vaghani, visited the site and reviewed the project’s details. Vaghani stated that the Ekta Mall will serve as a center for cultural activities and not as a commercial center. The committee members also watched a presentation about the mall’s features.

The mall will support various sectors, including agriculture. FPOs, co-operative societies, and APMCs will be involved in this effort. The project aligns with the vision of ODOP (One District, One Product) and the ‘Make in India’ initiative. DeshGujarat
