Completion of Gold Coating on Kalash at Somnath Mandir

Prabhas Patan: The gold coating of 1,445 kalash (sacred vessels) atop the Somnath Mandir has been successfully completed. Donations for the golden transformation of all the kalash have been generously received. Currently, 12 kalash remain to be converted to gold, for which donations have already been secured.
In addition to the kalash, the pillars of the mandir’s garbha griha (sanctum sanctorum) have also been adorned with 24-carat gold. The trishul (trident) and dhvaja danda (flagstaff) on the shikhara (spire) have likewise been gilded.
For those interested in contributing, the costs are as follows: Rs. 1,11,000 for the gold conversion of a small kalash, Rs. 1,21,000 for a medium-sized kalash, and Rs. 1,51,000 for a large kalash. On average, 5-6 grams of gold are used for the golden conversion of each kalash. DeshGujarat
