Narmada: A bandh has been called today in Garudeshwar and Kevadia after two local youths were allegedly beaten to death by six workers on suspicion of theft at the construction site of a “Tribal Museum” near the Statue of Unity (SoU).
The six suspects have been arrested in connection with the murders of Jayesh Tadvi and Sanjay Tadvi late Tuesday night. According to Narmada SP Prashant Sumbe, the workers tied up Jayesh, a resident of Kevadia, and Sanjay, from the nearby Gabhan village, before assaulting them. Jayesh died immediately, while Sanjay succumbed to his injuries at the government hospital in Rajpipla. SP Sumbe noted that, according to Sanjay’s dying declaration, both men, who were farm laborers, had entered the construction site at night in an attempt to steal metal scrap.
The accused—Margish Heerpara, Deval Patel, Deepu Yadav, Vanraj Taviad, Shailesh Taviad, and Umesh Gupta—have been booked for murder and other offenses under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. DeshGujarat
