Gujarat govt dismisses 134 absent teachers from their posts

Gandhinagar: After several reports of teachers being absent from schools came to light, the Gujarat government today dismissed 134 such teachers from their positions.
A total of 151 teachers in district and town schools were found to have been absent for over three months during academic year 2024-24 and 2024-25. Of these, 18 teachers were absent due to serious accidents or illness, and 18 others are over 50 years of age.
The number of teachers absent without any authorization is 70, and notices have been served to 58 of them. Sixty teachers were found to be on foreign tours; 44 of them have been served notices, while the process of dismissing three teachers and accepting the resignation of another three is ongoing.
