DRI nabs four from Ahmedabad airport, hotel with smuggled gold worth Rs. 1.50 crore

Ahmedabad: Directorate of Revenue Intelligence(DRI) has recovered Rs. 1.50 crore worth smuggled gold from four persons including two women passengers at Ahmedabad’s SVPI airport.
Two women passengers from Abu Dhabi – Murtaza Ali Bhopalwala and Farida Bhopalwala had carried gold in the form of paste filled in capsules in their private parts of body. Gold was given to them by one Aziz in Abu Dbahi. It was to be handed over to Dilmir Alim Saiyed Pirzada in Ahmedabad. Aziz had given Pirzada’s contact number to Bhopalwalas.
When Pirzada was contacted on given phone number, it was revealed to DRI that he was staying in Kanchan Palace hotel in Shahpur area of city in the name of Gaurav Parihar. When checked, Pirzada was found to be staying with a woman namely Fatima.
Police found gold from Fatima’s purse also. In this case Rs. 40 lakh worth gold was found from Murtuza, Rs. 39 lakh worth gold was found from Farida, Rs. 61 lakh worth gold was found fro Fatima, Rs. 88 lakh worth smuggled gold was found from Pirzada. Thus total 1292 gram gold was found from all four accused worth Rs. 1.50 crore. DeshGujarat
