Red alert in parts of Gujarat till August 26; IMD forecasts very heavy rains

Gandhinagar: Gujarat has been experiencing very heavy downpours over the last few days, and this is likely to continue for the next five days, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). The IMD, in its latest forecast, has issued red and orange alerts for some areas from August 24th to 26th, with the orange alert continuing until August 28th.
As per the IMD’s latest bulletin, a red alert has been issued for Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Bhavnagar over the next 24 hours, with heavy to very heavy rain expected in a few places, along with isolated extremely heavy falls in these districts.
During the same period, Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Dang, Tapi, Surendranagar, Amreli, and Botad are under an orange alert as they are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rain.
Meanwhile, a yellow warning for heavy rain has been issued for Rajkot, Junagadh, Morbi, Gir Somnath, and Diu.
On August 25th, the IMD has issued a red alert for Bharuch, Surat, Amreli, and Bhavnagar, forecasting heavy to very heavy rain in a few places, along with isolated extremely heavy falls.
An orange alert is in place for Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Surendranagar, Rajkot, Junagadh, Morbi, Gir Somnath, Botad, and Diu.
A yellow warning for heavy rain is in effect for Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Dwarka, and Kutch.
On August 26th, a red alert has been issued for Vadodara, Bharuch, Amreli, and Bhavnagar. An orange alert is in place for Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Surendranagar, Rajkot, Junagadh, Morbi, Gir Somnath, Botad, and Diu.

On August 27th, an orange alert has been issued for Surendranagar, Morbi, Patan, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Botad, and Kutch.
However, a yellow warning for heavy rain is expected at isolated places in the Gujarat region districts, namely Banaskantha, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, as well as in the Saurashtra districts of Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Dwarka, Gir Somnath, and Diu.
On August 28th, heavy to very heavy rain is likely at isolated places in Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Dwarka, and Kutch, which are under an orange alert.
A yellow warning for heavy rain is in place for Ahmedabad, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and the Saurashtra districts of Surendranagar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Morbi, Gir Somnath, Botad, and Diu. DeshGujarat
