August 26, 2024
Devbhumi Dwarka: Gujarat, along with the rest of the country, is celebrating Janmashtami today. Krishna temples, including those in Dwarka, Dakor, Shamlaji, and ISKCON temples across the state, are drawing large crowds of visitors. Many Hindus are observing a ‘Farali’ (Falahari) fast in honor of the festival.
Just like past years, the ancient Shri Dwarkadhish Temple, also known as the Jagat Mandir in Dwarka, is the center of the Janmashtami celebrations, marking the 5251st birth anniversary of Lord Krishna. A significant number of devotees are visiting the temple to participate in the festivities.
The temple is adorned with lights, flowers, and various decorations. The celebration of Lord Krishna’s birth, or Janm-Utsav, will take place at midnight. The Parna-Nom celebration will follow tomorrow, on August 27th. Devotees can also participate in the darshan online.
