Vadodara flood: List of 47 MGVCL feeders, 163 transformers to which power supply is discontinued

Vadodara: Gujarat government arm Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (MGVCL) which is responsible for distribution of electricity in the Central Gujarat today declared it has shut off 47 feeders in the city of Vadodara due to water logging and flood of Vishwamitri river. The list of feeders declared by MGVCL and published here in this article is as of 8 pm on 28 August (Wednesday). The feeders are shut off for safety reasons keeping public good in mind. The feeders are mainly in Akota, Alkapuri, Atladra, Fatehgunj, Sama, Vasna, Karelibaug and Manjalpur areas.
Lakhs of Barodians are eagerly waiting for decrease in the levels of Vishwamitri river which has flooded the city for last three days. Without power, the pump house and borewells of societies can’t function. It has already created a problem of water availibility in thousands of homes. The hospitals also can’t operate effectively without power. People in power cut affected areas are saving battery of their mobile phones as well to continue to get communicated and informed about the situation. The level of Vishwamitri river went up to 37 ft, up from 26 ft danger level and later steadied at 35.25 ft.
