Amazon reports 30% YoY growth in home, kitchen, outdoors business in Gujarat and Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: Amazon.in today announced a 30% year-over-year (YoY) growth across its Home, Kitchen, and Outdoors business in Gujarat and Ahmedabad, along with approximately 20% growth in new customers.

As per the company, the region has witnessed a 20% increase in demand for sports and fitness products. Cricket, being the most popular sport in Gujarat, saw a 60% YoY increase in cricket gear sales. Additionally, as more customers turn to yoga for fitness and mindfulness, yoga essentials have experienced an impressive 40% YoY growth across the state.

With customers becoming more environmentally conscious, in 2024, Amazon.in has successfully sold over 4,000 solar panels and is currently live with 10 EV brands across 25+ cities in Gujarat. Interestingly, Amazon.in has seen at least one electric scooter being sold daily from renowned brands like Bajaj Chetak and Hero Vida in the city.

Customers are increasingly embracing automated home cleaning solutions, such as robotic vacuums and accessories, leading to a remarkable increase of close to 95% in Gujarat. Furthermore, Air purifiers have seen close to 70% growth, reflecting a shift towards healthy living, while coffee machines and air fryers have risen by 50% and 45%, respectively. Also, customers are choosing digital door locks, video doorbells and security cameras to ensure tighter and smarter security, resulting in an increase of nearly 70% YoY in the state

Ahmedabad has experienced nearly 35% YoY growth in the large furniture category, with premium items such as sofa sets and wardrobes showing substantial increases of 50% and 45% YoY, respectively. Additionally, small and emerging furniture categories, including dressing tables and folding chairs along with shoe racks and organizers, have seen impressive growth of 50%, 65%, and 50% YoY, respectively. Also, in Gujarat, Amazon.in has become a preferred destination for bathroom fittings, with the category witnessing a 45% YoY spike, and products like sinks, toilets, and bathtubs experiencing growth of over 90% YoY

In Ahmedabad, newer categories like wall paints have seen growth of 2.5 time YoY, reflecting customers’ growing interest in home aesthetics. Customer demand for automotive products is on the rise, with car vacuum cleaners being the fastest-growing category, experiencing approximately 60% YoY growth. Notably, 60% of searches are specifically focused on cordless models.

Amazon.in has over 2 lakh sellers in the state and operates 1 fulfillment center and 1 sortation center in Ahmedabad, along with another sortation center in Surat.
