Gujarat Board revises exam pattern for Class 9 and Class 11
September 05, 2024
Gandhinagar: For the first time in around 10 years, the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has overhauled the exam pattern for Classes 9 and 11. Starting this academic year, the new format will align with the final exams for Classes 10 and 12, featuring a 30% objective and 70% descriptive question split.
It is understood that this revision aims to reduce the number of students failing by a small margin and will affect around 1.5 million students, according to board sources.
The updated format will apply to all streams in Class 11, including science, commerce, and Sanskrit prathama and madhyama. Schools will implement the new exam system a few months into the 2024-25 academic year. Sample question papers reflecting the revised structure have already been distributed to district education officers to help students prepare. This shift is expected to ease students’ transition to their HSC and SSC exams by providing a uniform exam format. DeshGujarat
