Hindus in Dhastipura complain attacks on Ganesh Utsav venue using potatoes, onions and stones

Surat: Local Hindus from Dhastipura based Ganesh Utsav complained that their Ganesh Utsav venue was frequently being attacked from the Muslims populated areas nearby with potatoes and onions.

Police rushed to the place and deployed bandobast and also did combing operation in the units of Muslims located nearby. The locals however said, the attacks were continuing.

Two women who spoke to a local TV channel ‘Channel Surat’ said the whole area is populated by Muslims(most of them migrants) and just one small pocket of Hindus is located in between. The women further said that they have not been able to sleep for three nights due to attacks coming from the nearby buildings and they fear the children playing in the street may suffer injuries.

Hindu women further stated that they contacted police, after which bandobast was made and combing was also conducted, but just on the next evening, the stones were thrown in their street even at 8 pm, contrary to late night stone throwing earlier.

Meghwal colony in Dhastipura is located near Variyavi bajar where another Ganesh utsav venue was attacked with stones by Muslim underage boys this week who arrived there in a rickshaw. The underage boys and others who pelted stones are arrested and are on remands. Dhastipura locals claimed that the Ganesh arrival procession on Monday night was also attacked with stones. DeshGujarat
