Contract teachers of grant-in-aid colleges in Gujarat get pay hike
September 14, 2024
Ahmedabad: The Gujarat education department on Friday announced an increase of Rs 12,000 in the monthly salary of contracted teachers. This decision will benefit approximately 1,000 adhyapak sahayaks who are employed for five years on fixed salaries at grant-in-aid colleges. Previously, these teachers received a monthly remuneration of Rs 40,176.
The salary hike was implemented following a request from the Gujarat Rajya Adhyapak Mahamandal, an organization representing college teachers. The Adhyapak Sahayak scheme was initiated in 2005 to fill vacant full-time teaching positions in colleges. At that time, the teachers’ monthly salary was Rs 7,500, which has gradually increased to Rs 40,000. With the latest announcement, their salary will now be Rs 52,000 a month. DeshGujarat
