Ahmedabad: Anand Nagar Police has booked four individuals, including a self-styled journalist, for allegedly attempting to extort money from a manager of a hair oil trading company in the Jodhpur area of the city.
As per the FIR filed on Thursday, Dilip Rathod, 27, the manager of the trading firm, told police that four men entered his office in Jodhpur on the evening of September 7. While one of the men approached Rathod, the other three began inspecting the stock in a nearby warehouse. The man who confronted Rathod identified himself as Dashrath Parmar, a journalist from Azad Kalam Press, and accused Rathod’s company of selling counterfeit hair oil from a well-known brand. When told that the company was legitimate, Parmar threatened Rathod with police action and insisted on striking a deal. Rathod then contacted one of the firm’s owners, Saumil Thakkar, who advised him to reach out to the police control room.
After Rathod’s call, a team from the Anand Nagar police arrived and began legal proceedings. The Anand Nagar police have filed an FIR against Parmar and the three others under the BNS, charging them with extortion, trespassing, and abetment. DeshGujarat
