Gujarat CM, senior BJP leaders hold protest against Rahul’s anti-reservation remarks

Ahmedabad: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a silent protest on Friday against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s remarks about scrapping the reservation system. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, along with Rajya Sabha MP Mayank Nayak, led the march at the RTO Circle before gathering at a location on Ashram Road.

Rajya Sabha MP Narhari Amin, City BJP Chief & MLA Amit Shah, Ahmedabad-East MP Hasmukhbhai Patel, and numerous BJP workers joined the protest, carrying banners denouncing the Congress.

During a recent visit to the US, Rahul Gandhi stated at Georgetown University that the Congress would consider removing reservations when “India becomes a fair place,” suggesting the current system is unjust.

Speaking at the event, Gujarat BJP vice-president Gordhan Zadafia accused the Congress of repeatedly disrespecting the Constitution whenever it held power at the Centre. He argued that the Congress and the Gandhi family were historically opposed to reservations and claimed that India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, was against including Dr. BR Ambedkar in the Constitution drafting committee. Zadafia also criticized the Congress for imposing the Emergency in 1975, calling it a violation of the Constitution.

He further lamented that Rahul Gandhi, whom he believes lacks an understanding of India’s history, has disrespected the country on foreign soil. He added that it is unfortunate such a person is the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.
