Vadodara: A minor girl was gang-raped in the Bhayli area of the city on Friday night while she was out to meet her friend. Five people arrived on bikes and teased the girl, leading to an argument. After this, two people fled, while one of the others held the girl’s friend while two raped her. The police have filed a complaint and are conducting an investigation.

Briefing the media about the incident, Vadodara SP Rohan Anand said that the rape occurred late last night. The victim’s father has lodged a complaint. The victim met her childhood friend at 11.30 pm and they both went to talk near Suncity Society in the Bhayli area. Around 12 o’clock, five people arrived on two bikes, with two people on one bike and three people on the other bike. The five men had first spoken in vulgar terms, which the victim and her friend resisted.

Anand further stated, “two of these five people had left earlier. However, out of the remaining three, one of the men forcibly held the victim’s friend while two of them raped the victim before leaving the scene around 12:30 am. Later, after some time, the victim gathered herself and informed the police along with her friend. The police reached the location, and the scene was cordoned off. A lot of evidence has been recovered from the site.”

“It was very dark in this place at night. The victim and her friend could not recognize the faces of the accused, but they have described their style of speech and body build. This incident has nothing to do with Garba,” the senior police officer said.

An investigation has been initiated based on the complaint of the victim’s father. The victim’s friend is studying in class 11.
