October 11, 2024
Amreli: A complaint has been filed at Savarkundla Town Police Station against Professor Ejaz Kazi and his student named Sabir Malek from Kanakia College for molesting a Hindu girl after the video of the incident came to light.
The incident occurred on September 28, 2024, when the female students, along with their physical education professor, Ejaz Kazi, were returning to Amreli after participating in a Kabaddi competition held in Rajkot. During the journey, the coach picked up another college student, Sabir Malek, who sat next to one of the female students and physically abused her in the moving vehicle in presence of the Professor. The accused student threatened the victim, causing her to remain silent. However, after a video of the molestation in the vehicle went viral, and subsequent protest by Hindu organizations, the police contacted the victim and encouraged her to file a complaint against both the student and the professor under charges of molestation and POCSO.
Amreli SP Himkar Sinh stated that the police became aware of the molestation through social media. Although the victim was initially hesitant to file a complaint, the police encouraged her and her family to take action. A complaint has now been lodged against both the PT teacher and the accused student, and efforts are underway to arrest the accused.
It is learnt that the college has removed Professor Ejaz Kazi from the job. Ejaz and Sabir are booked under sections 75, 54, 351(3) and POCSO act section 12. DeshGujarat
