Rajkot police book 3 teachers over suicide of Class 11 student

Rajkot: Lodhika Police registered a complaint against three teachers from Motavada Government School after a 15-year-old student in Class 11 allegedly committed suicide due to harassment from these teachers. The student, named Dhruvil Varu, hanged himself on October 19th and named two female teachers, Mosmi and Vibhuti, along with another male teacher, Sachin, as the reasons for driving him to this tragic decision in his suicide note.

Before taking this step, Dhruvil made a video addressing his family and wrote a suicide note that named these three teachers and accused them of harassment. In his note, titled “Read the Reason for My Death,” Dhruvil shared messages to his parents, absolving them of any blame for his actions. He stated that despite proving his innocence in an exam, he faced threats from teachers who invalidated his answers. He also mentioned that two of his friends were subjected to similar harassment.

Dhruvil Varu’s father, Bharatbhai Varu, filed a complaint at the Lodhika Police Station, prompting an investigation by the district education department and police. Following this investigation, a case has been registered against the three teachers: Sachin Vyas, Mosmi Shah, and Vibhuti Joshi.

Rameshbhai Varu, the uncle of Dhruvil Varu, told media , “When my nephew got on the bus to come home from school, he told his friends that he was not having fun. My nephew was a school monitor and was very good at studies, scoring more than 70 percent in Class 10 and clearing everything when he was verbally asked if he had plagiarized in the exam.

The deceased’s uncle further stated that Dhruvil came home from Motavada school in Chhapra village at 12:30 PM, and there was no one at home. He wrote a suicide note, uploaded a video, and then immediately committed suicide. One child of the family has committed suicide, so we demand justice. It is our demand that such incidents do not happen to any other student.” DeshGujarat
