Another breakthrough achieved in Bullet train project construction in Vadodara

Vadodara: National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited has successfully launched another steel bridge on 22nd October 2024. The steel bridge of 60 m length was launched on Bajva – Chhayapuri chord line of Western Railway, Vadodara in Gujarat for Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project.

This 645 MT of steel bridge of 12.5 m in height and 14.7 m in width has been fabricated at the workshop in Bhachau, Gujarat and transported to the site for installation.

The bridge assembly utilized approximately 25659 Nos. of Tor-Shear Type High Strength (TTHS) bolts with C5 system painting and elastomeric bearings, all designed for a 100-year lifespan. The steel bridge was assembled at a height of 23.5 m from the ground on temporary structure and was pulled with automatic mechanism of 2 no. of semi-automatic jacks, each of capacity of 250 ton using mac-alloy bars. The height of the piers at this location is 21 m.

The project is being executed meticulously, maintaining the utmost standards of safety and engineering excellence. Leveraging Japanese expertise, India is increasingly utilizing its own technical and material resources to build infrastructure under the “Make in India” initiative. The steel bridge for the Bullet Train Project is a major example of this effort.

This is the fifth steel bridge completed out of the 28 steel bridges planned for the MAHSR corridor. DeshGujarat
