Heavy rush of fans at India vs. New Zealand cricket match in Narendra Modi Stadium
October 28, 2024
Motera: The ongoing New Zealand Women’s Tour of India ODI Series 2024 is being held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera. To promote women’s cricket, free entry was announced for attendees. However, due to the Diwali vacation in schools and the Sunday holiday, the venue became overcrowded, forcing thousands of people to turn away as entry to the stadium was halted on October 27.
The second match of the series was on Sunday, and even though it started at 1:30 PM, people continued to enter until 4 PM. After that, free entry was stopped because the tickets were sold out. Entry with just an ID card was also halted, and only those who had purchased tickets in advance were allowed to enter the world’s largest cricket match to witness the India vs. New Zealand women’s match.
One cricket lover who traveled from Kota to cheer for the Indian team expressed frustration, stating that the train was delayed and the ticket counter was closed upon arrival. He lamented, “Now, I have no option but to leave.” DeshGujarat
