Kutch: Ahead of the beginning of the Gujarati New Year today, the newly erected ‘White Rann, The Tent City’ in Dholavira, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was declared open for tourists on Saturday, the eve of the Gujarati New Year. This unique tent city has been designed and constructed by Evoke Experiences.
The tent city has been designed to minimize environmental impact and is based on a Harappan civilization theme. Artifacts depicting the local and ancient culture of Kutch have been intricately carved in the city, blending tradition with modern design to offer tourists a one-of-a-kind experience. Local folk artists will also perform within the tent city, transporting visitors back to the 5,000-year-old Harappan civilization.
The tent city was declared open on Friday, the eve of the Gujarati New Year, and will be operational until March 15.
Dholavira Tent City Manager Amit Gupta states that this tent city not only highlights the culture of Kutch but also provides employment to local residents. This ‘White Rann, The Tent City’ features over 140 tents, including Darbari and Rajwadi-style tents. The main purpose of creating this tent city is to promote Dholavira, allowing this remote ancient city and its culture to be further showcased.
